金牛区 in Chengdu is named after an ancient legend of a stone bull said to excrete gold, linked to the 金牛道 — the ancient road through the Qinling mountains that Qin used to conquer Shu. The district is now a major transport hub containing Chengdu North Railway Station.

As an astrological sign, 金牛 is almost always used in the full form 金牛座 (Jīnniúzuò, Taurus). Standalone 金牛 most often refers to the Chengdu district or the literal 'golden bull'.
