Distinct from the domesticated 家牦牛 that Tibetan herders keep — wild yaks are much larger, darker, and far more aggressive, surviving at 4,000-6,000m in remote plateau areas like 可可西里 and 羌塘. An emblematic species of the Tibetan Plateau fauna.
