mistakes
Easy to confuse with 凭藉 ("to rely on") - same pinyin, totally different meaning. 评介 = 评 (evaluate) + 介 (introduce); 凭藉 = 凭 (rely on) + 藉 (use). Read the characters, not just the sound.
usage
Mostly book/film/scholarship reviews aimed at introducing the work to readers, hence the "introduce" component 介. Plain "review/critique" is 评论; 书评 is a stand-alone book review.
