Tips

history
萨达姆··-·克里蒂 was Iraq's strongman from 1979 until the U.S. invasion in 2003. He launched the Iran-Iraq War (战争) in 1980, invaded Kuwait in 1990 triggering the Gulf War (海湾战争), and was captured in December 2003 hiding in a 'spider hole' near Tikrit. He was hanged on 30 December 2006. In Chinese media, 萨达姆 alone usually suffices — surname-first alone is ambiguous because it is also King Hussein of Jordan (约旦国王).
usage
Arabic 'Saddam' means 'one who confronts'. The middle dot · separates given name (萨达姆) from surname (), the standard Chinese convention for foreign personal names.
