Founded 1980, originally under China's Ministry of Justice (司法部, Sīfǎ bù). In 2020 it was renamed 《法治日报》 (Fǎzhì Rìbào — same pinyin, but using 治 "to govern" instead of 制 "system") to align with the official rule-of-law (法治) terminology. Older texts and CC-CEDICT still use the original 法制 spelling.
