Tips
history
Written by 尚仲贤 after the Tang tale 柳毅传 by 李朝威. The princess, married into the family of the Jing River dragon and mistreated there, is rescued by her fiery uncle 钱塘君 once Liu Yi delivers her letter, and in the end she marries Liu Yi.
mistakes
Here 传 is read chuán 'to pass on': 传书 is 'to deliver a letter'. In the title of the source tale, 柳毅传, the same character is zhuàn 'biography, tale'.
