日照香炉生紫烟，
遥看瀑布挂前川。
飞流直下三千尺，
疑是银河落九天 (Sunlight on Xianglu Peak breeds purple mist; from afar, the waterfall hangs like a river in front. Flying current plunges straight down three thousand feet — I think the Milky Way has fallen from the Ninth Heaven). Memorized by virtually every Chinese schoolchild;
飞流直下三千尺 is possibly the single most-quoted waterfall image in Chinese.
