Borrowed from Cantonese 拍檔 (paak3 dong3), now mainstream in Mandarin too. Common in show biz, sports, and business: 黄金拍档 'golden duo,' 老拍档 'old partner.' Less formal than 搭档 (dādàng) but they're nearly interchangeable.
