Legend: a beggar in Changshu stole a chicken, had no pot, so coated it in mud and threw it in a fire. The clay sealed in juices; the lotus leaves perfumed the meat. Jin Yong immortalized the dish in《射雕英雄传》where Huang Rong cooks one for Hong Qigong.
