Echoes the ancient blessing 千秋万岁 (qiānqiūwànsuì 'a thousand autumns, ten thousand years') used to wish emperors immortality. Recorded in 《韩非子·显学》, it later softened from a flattering toast into a general phrase for 'throughout the ages.'

千秋 (qiānqiū) = 'a thousand autumns' = a long lifetime; 万代 (wàndài) = 'ten thousand generations.' Stack them and you get 'forever and ever.'
