Officially
生育服务证 (shēngyù fúwùzhèng), but everyone calls it
准生证. Issued by the local family-planning office (now
卫健委), the permit was central to the One-Child Policy era (1980–2015). Since 2016, most provinces have replaced it with a much simpler
生育登记 (birth registration), so the term is now slightly dated but still in everyday use.
