Founded 1826 in Bloomsbury, UCL was the first English university to admit students regardless of religion, and the first to admit women on equal terms (1878). A founding member of the Russell Group; in Chinese it's also abbreviated 伦大 or simply UCL.
mistakes
Don't confuse with 伦敦大学 alone (Lúndūn Dàxué = University of London), which is a federation of 17 institutions. UCL is one constituent — the largest and oldest — and is treated as effectively independent.
