Tips

culture
Every sea, lake and river was believed to have its own dragon king, and many villages had a 龙王庙, a Dragon King temple, where people prayed for rain. In 《西游记》 each of the four seas has one, and in 《柳毅传书》 the scholar 柳毅 carries a letter to the dragon king of 洞庭 Lake.
usage
The saying 大水冲了龙王庙, 'the flood washed away the Dragon King's own temple', is said when people on the same side clash by mistake.
