Tips

mistakes
降 is xiáng 'to subdue' here, as in 投降, not jiàng 'to come down' as in 下降.
culture
Mostly met in 降龙伏虎 'to tame dragons and subdue tigers', praise for overwhelming prowess, and in 降龙十八掌, the Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms of Jin Yong's novels. Chinese tradition counts the Dragon Tamer and the Tiger Tamer among the 十八罗汉, and the monk 济公 was often taken for the Dragon-Taming Arhat reborn.
