Bound to 蝾螈 ('newt' / 'salamander'), a small tailed amphibian. Despite the insect radical, it is not a bug - old classification grouped many small crawling creatures under that radical.
The 虫 radical historically covered all sorts of small crawling animals, not just insects - which is why a newt, a little amphibian, is written with it.
