Linguistics term. Liánmián words split into three subtypes by sound pattern:
双声 (alliterating, e.g.
玲珑),
叠韵 (rhyming, e.g.
徘徊), and
非双声叠韵 (neither, e.g.
蝴蝶). The defining property is that the word is one morpheme written with two characters - neither character carries the meaning by itself.
