A dragon (bamboo-and-cloth body with internal candles or lights, hence
灯 'lantern') held aloft on poles and made to chase a 'pearl'. Traditionally performed at
元宵节 (Lantern Festival) and Spring Festival to bring rain and good harvest.
耍 here carries the sense of 'wield / play', as in
耍刀 or
耍把戏.
