Tips
culture
Every Chinese reader knows it from 苏轼's poem on West Lake: 水光潋滟晴方好,山色空蒙雨亦奇 'the shimmering water is lovely in sunshine; the misty hills are wonderful in rain.' Outside that line it appears mainly in descriptive writing about lakes and rivers.
memory
Both characters carry the water radical 氵, a clue that the word describes water.
