普洱茶 is named after 普洱 (Pu'er), a prefecture in Yunnan province. Unlike most teas, it is a post-fermented tea that improves with age — well-aged Pu'er cakes can sell for enormous sums. It is traditionally pressed into cakes, bricks, or tuo (bowl shapes).
