Tips

register
成亲 carries an old-fashioned, traditional flavor — common in historical fiction, period dramas (古装剧), and rural/traditional speech. Modern everyday Mandarin overwhelmingly prefers 结婚 (jiéhūn) for 'to get married.' If you want to sound bookish or evoke a wedding-banquet-and-red-lanterns atmosphere, 成亲 is the word.
memory
'to complete / accomplish' + 'kin / relation' = 'to complete the kinship,' i.e. to formally enter another family. The same appears in 亲家 (qìngjia) — the relationship between two sets of in-laws.
