恒生 ('eternally rising') was founded in 1933 as a money-changing shop in Sheung Wan and is now majority-owned by HSBC. The bank also publishes the 恒生指数 (Héngshēng Zhǐshù) — the Hang Seng Index, Hong Kong's benchmark stock index since 1969.
