Sūn Wùkōng hé Rúlái Fózǔ dǎdǔ, jiéguǒ méi néng tiàochū tā de shǒuzhǎngxīn.
Sun Wukong made a bet with the Buddha, but in the end he could not jump out of the Buddha's palm.
Tips
culture
如来 'thus come' is a title of the Buddha and 佛祖 means 'the Buddha, founder of the faith'; together they are the everyday way to name Shakyamuni, the historical Buddha. Shorter forms are 如来 and 如来佛.
usage
In 西游记, Sun Wukong somersaults to what he thinks is the end of the world, only to find he never left the Buddha's hand. 'Not getting out of the Buddha's palm' still means having no escape from someone's control.
