Tips

culture
Liangzhou, today's 武威 in Gansu, was a frontier garrison, and the songs named after it are about the northwest border and its soldiers. The one by 王翰 ends 醉卧沙场君莫笑,古来征战几人回 'do not laugh if I lie drunk on the battlefield; since ancient times, how many have come home from war?' The one by 王之涣 ends with the spring wind that never crosses the Jade Gate Pass, 春风不度玉门关.
