Tips

usage
Modern marketing term: a sponsor 'crowns' an event or team with its name. Note the reading: here is guàn (4th tone, 'to crown / to put on top'), not guān (1st tone, 'crown' as noun). Often paired as 冠名赞助 'title sponsorship'.
mistakes
Don't read this as guānmíng. The verbal sense ('to put a crown / name on something') always takes 4th tone - same rule as 冠军 (champion) and 冠以 ('to give a name to').
