From the High-Tang poet
王之涣's
登鹳雀楼 ('Climbing the Stork Tower'):
白日依山尽,黄河入海流。欲穷千里目,更上一层楼. The Stork Tower stood at Puzhou in Shanxi, facing the Yellow River. From the view atop the tower the poem draws the lesson 'to see farther, climb higher', a model five-character quatrain.
