On the Li River in Guilin, you can still see fishermen fishing with cormorants.
Tips
culture
In cormorant fishing, the fisherman ties a cord around the bird's neck so it cannot swallow a big catch, then takes the fish from its throat. On the 漓江 near 阳朔 the custom now survives mostly as a show for tourists.
usage
In everyday speech the bird is often called 鱼鹰 ("fish hawk").
