According to 《史记》, Yu the Great's son Qi founded the Xia dynasty with its capital at 阳城 — archaeologists identify it with the Wangchenggang site near Dengfeng. The modern Yangcheng County in Shanxi is a separate place known for its 皇城相府, the fortified residence of Qing minister Chen Tingjing 陈廷敬.
