In the Ming, major cases were tried jointly by the Ministry of Justice, the Court of Judicial Review and the Censorate.
Tips
history
The Ming founder set it up in 1382 in place of the old 御史台. Its censors, 御史, inspected the provinces and impeached corrupt officials, and with 刑部 and 大理寺 it formed the 三法司, which judged the gravest cases together.
mistakes
都 is read dū here, as in 首都 'capital', not dōu 'all'.
