history
Wuxi (无锡) industrialist family that built China's largest pre-1949 private flour-milling and cotton-spinning empire, founded by brothers 荣宗敬 and 荣德生 in the 1900s. 荣德生's son 荣毅仁 (Rong Yiren) became PRC Vice President (1993-1998) and founded CITIC Group. The family is emblematic of 'national capitalist' (民族资本家) industrial patriotism.
