Struck by a M7.0 earthquake on April 20, 2013, killing over 200 people. It occurred on the same Longmenshan fault that caused the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake (汶川地震). Not to be confused with 庐山 (Lúshān) in Jiangxi — different 芦 vs 庐 character.
mistakes
Distinguish 芦山 (Sichuan, reed/rush 芦) from 庐山 (Jiangxi, cottage 庐) — both pronounced Lúshān but they are entirely different places. The Jiangxi 庐山 is the famous scenic mountain; this Sichuan 芦山 is known for the 2013 earthquake.
