白鲢 is the same fish as 鲢鱼, named for its silvery scales, and one of the 四大家鱼 'four domestic fish' raised together in Chinese ponds, with 花鲢 'bighead carp', 草鱼 'grass carp' and 青鱼 'black carp'. Its flesh is full of fine bones.
