The whole poem:
飞来山上千寻塔,
闻说鸡鸣见日升。
不畏浮云遮望眼,
自缘身在最高层。 'On Feilai Hill stands a towering pagoda; they say that at cockcrow you can see the sun rise. I do not fear that drifting clouds will block my view, because I stand on the highest level.'
王安石 wrote it at thirty, on his way home from a county post, years before his great reforms. School notes place this Feilai Peak near Shaoxing, not the one by Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. The last line is also quoted as
只缘身在最高层.
