瘦肉精 (shòuròujīng, 'lean meat agent'), the agricultural drug clenbuterol, became infamous in China after the 2011 Shuanghui (双汇) pork scandal, when farmers were caught using it to boost lean-meat ratios. The word now also evokes that food-safety controversy.

Built on the everyday 瘦/肥 ('thin/fat') opposition: 瘦 + 肉 = 'thin-meat' = lean meat; 肥 + 肉 = fatty meat. Same 瘦 also describes thin people (他很瘦, 'he's skinny').
