From 《冷斋夜话》 by Song-dynasty monk Huihong: 'this is exactly what's called telling dreams to a fool (对痴人说梦).' The original sense — telling something genuine to a fool who cannot grasp it — later shifted to 'the fool himself is talking fantasy.'
