A short pattern of 40 characters: two stanzas, each of four five-character lines. The best-known poem to it is 《
生查子·
元夕》, usually given to
欧阳修 and sometimes to
朱淑真. The first stanza remembers meeting a lover at the lantern fair,
人约黄昏后 'we met after dusk'; the second comes back a year later to find the moon and the lamps unchanged and the lover gone.
