Tips

culture
On mainland A-share exchanges, most stocks can only rise or fall 10% per day (5% for ST stocks, 20% on the STAR and ChiNext boards). Hitting the cap freezes new trades at that price until sellers appear.
usage
Opposite is 跌停 (diētíng), limit-down. 涨停 describes a stock that opens and stays at limit-up all day.
