Tips

history
Before paper, books were written on strips of bamboo. The green bamboo was first heated until moisture beaded on it like sweat, which kept it from rotting and from insects: 汗 'sweat' + 青 'green bamboo'. The word came to mean history itself, best known from 文天祥's line 留取丹心照汗青.
