正剧 is the third major dramatic category alongside
悲剧 (tragedy) and
喜剧 (comedy) — the Chinese name for what 18th-century European critics called 'drame' or 'bourgeois drama' (drame bourgeois). It depicts ordinary people in serious but non-fatal conflicts.
