Compiled in the Han dynasty, the Chu Ci collects works from the state of Chu (c. 4th–3rd century BCE). Qu Yuan (屈原) is the dominant figure; his suicide is commemorated by the Dragon Boat Festival.
culture
Along with the Shi Jing (诗经), the Chu Ci is one of the two foundational pillars of Chinese poetry. Its southern, shamanistic, and imaginative style contrasts with the northern 诗经's folk realism.
