Tips

history
Yang's 21-hour, 14-orbit flight on 15-16 October 2003 made China the third country after the Soviet Union and United States to independently launch a human into space. He was awarded the title 航天英雄 (Space Hero) and later helped oversee China's astronaut training program as deputy chief designer of the manned space program.
culture
Chinese uses 航天员 (hángtiānyuán, 'space-navigation member') for its own astronauts rather than the Russian-style 宇航员 (yǔhángyuán) or the colloquial English-borrowed 'taikonaut' (太空人, tàikōngrén) used more in Hong Kong and overseas press.
