Tips

history
Named after the 思高圣经学会, the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum, which the Italian Franciscan Gabriele Allegra founded in Beijing in 1945 and moved to Hong Kong in 1948. 思高 stands for Scotus, after the medieval Franciscan thinker Duns Scotus. Translated from the Hebrew and Greek, the complete Bible appeared in 1968.
usage
Catholic and Protestant Chinese use different names for many biblical figures, so a name shows which tradition a text follows: Moses is 梅瑟 here but 摩西 in the Protestant 和合本, Isaiah is 依撒依亚 against 以赛亚, and God is usually 天主 for Catholics but 上帝 or 神 for Protestants.
