usage

心绪 ('thought-strands / mood', per Xinhua: 心事；心情) + 起伏 ('rise and fall'). Cousin of 心潮起伏, both describe agitated inner states, but 心绪 leans toward thoughts/worries while 心潮 leans toward emotional surges.
