usage
干 (gān) = dry + 渴 (kě) = thirsty. Stronger and more literary than plain 渴 - 渴 is everyday 'I'm thirsty', 干渴 evokes a physical dryness in the mouth and throat. Common in writing about deserts, illness, fever.
