圣斗士 translates the Japanese
聖闘士 (seitōshi, 'holy warrior') from Masami Kurumada's 《
聖闘士星矢》 (Saint Seiya, 1986). The series aired on CCTV in the early 1990s and was among the first Japanese shonen anime to reach mainland Chinese audiences, making the gold saints (
黄金圣斗士) iconic.
