history
Named after English astronomer Edmond Halley (哈雷, 1656–1742), who in 1705 noticed comets in 1531, 1607 and 1682 had nearly identical orbits and predicted the return in 1758. He didn't live to see it confirmed, but the comet has borne his name since.
