Meanings

After the fact, comes regret.

Wǒ hòuhuǐ méiyǒu hǎohǎo xuéxí.

I regret not studying hard.

Nǐ xiànzài hòuhuǐ yě láibují le.

It's too late for you to regret it now.

Zuò le jiù bú yào hòuhuǐ.

Once you've done it, don't regret it.

usage

后悔 is often followed by 没有 to express regretting not having done something: 后悔没有去 (regret not having gone).

grammar

Common pattern: 后悔 + verb phrase. Unlike English, you don't say 后悔做了 as often — the emphasis is usually on what you failed to do.
