吉卜赛 (Jíbǔsài) is the standard Mandarin transliteration of 'Gypsy'. Today many publications use
罗姆人 (Luómǔrén, from 'Roma') as the more accurate, less freighted term — same shift as in English from 'Gypsy' to 'Romani/Roma'.
吉卜赛人 still appears widely in older translations of European literature and film subtitles.
