From 毛泽东's 1963 poem 《杂言诗·八连颂》: 好八连,天下传。为什么?意志坚……军民团结如一人,试看天下谁能敌. 八连 refers to the PLA's model 'Good Eighth Company' stationed on Nanjing Road in Shanghai. The poem praises its frugal, disciplined style; 军民鱼水情 later became a propaganda slogan.
