Chéngyǔ " duìniú-tánqín " jiǎng de jiùshì Gōngmíng Yí de gùshi.
The idiom "playing the qin to an ox" tells the story of Gongming Yi.
Tips
culture
In the Han-dynasty telling, the ox keeps grazing through his refined tune, but when he plays sounds like a mosquito's whine and a lost calf's cry, it flicks its tail, pricks up its ears and paces about to listen. The point of the original is that the ox could hear perfectly well: the music was just not for its ears.
usage
公明 is a compound surname, so the name divides as Gongming + Yi, not Gong + Mingyi.
