The short form 乌蒙 is the one in Mao's line 乌蒙磅礴走泥丸 'the towering Wumeng roll by like pellets of mud', making light of the vast range the marchers crossed. The name goes back to Wumeng, an old chiefdom of the Yi people in the area.
